I'm a venture capitalist and former journalist/pundit.
By day (and night), I'm a venture capitalist. My partner, Gilman Louie, and I are focused on discovering outstanding entrepreneurs early on and helping them start major new companies. Our firm is called Alsop Louie Partners. This is my personal blog, where I write about pretty much anything I want that isn't related to our firm's business. I used to be a professional writer (and editor and pundit), a job I fell into after I graduated from college in 1975.
I stopped writing (then a column for Fortune magazine) in 2003, first to take a break for some surgery. But then I got used to not having deadlines. Since then, blogging happened. Blogging isn't the same thing as writing on deadline, but it's a pretty interesting phenomenon to learn about. So I've gotten used to doing it. Let me know if I should stop!
